How to Print Barcode Labels from Etsy CSV Files (Simple Tool + Guide)
Every Etsy seller faces the same problem: You export your inventory CSV, and now you need barcode labels for your products.
The solutions are all not ideal:
Enter each SKU manually into free generators (hours of work)
Pay $30-90/month for inventory software you don't need
Handwrite everything
I built a tool that fixes this specific problem. Upload your Etsy CSV, pick your label size, print and your done in 30 seconds.
Get the tool for $37 if you already know you need this, or keep reading to see exactly how it works.
The Etsy Barcode Label Problem (Why This Is Harder Than It Should Be)
Problem 1: Etsy CSV Format Variations
When you export from Etsy, the SKU column might be called:
"SKU"
"Item SKU"
"Handle"
Sometimes it's missing entirely
Most barcode generators can't handle this. They expect perfect data in a specific format.
Problem 2: Bulk Generation Doesn't Exist
Free online barcode generators work great for one barcode at a time. Have 100 products? You’ll have to do 100 copy-paste operations.
Inventory software does bulk generation, but it's usually buried in features you don't need, and costs $348-1,068 per year.
Problem 3: Label Alignment Is Precise
Avery 5160 labels are exactly 1" x 2-5/8" (25.4mm x 66.675mm). If your off by even 1mm and by label #30, you're printing on the gaps between labels.
How My Etsy Barcode Generator Works
Step 1: Upload Your CSV
The tool automatically detects SKU columns by looking for:
SKU
Item SKU
Handle
Code
Barcode
Item Code
If your CSV uses any of these column names, it finds them automatically.
Step 2: Automatic SKU Generation
No SKUs yet? The tool generates them using this format:
25NOV-1001
25 = Day of month
NOV = Month (JAN, FEB, MAR, etc.)
1001 = Sequential number
This format lets you see when inventory was added at a glance. Products from 15JAN are obviously older than 20NOV.
The tool remembers the last number used (stored in your browser), so you never get duplicates.
Step 3: Choose Your Label Size
The tool includes 5 templates:
Avery 5160/5260 - Address Labels
Size: 1" x 2-5/8" (30 per sheet)
Use for: Most products
Cost: ~$24 for 3,000 labels on Amazon
Avery 5163/5263 - Large Address Labels
Size: 2" x 4" (10 per sheet)
Use for: Storage bins, boxes
Cost: ~$26 for 1,000 labels
Avery 5167/5267 - Tiny Labels
Size: 0.5" x 1.75" (80 per sheet!)
Use for: Jewelry, very small items
Cost: ~$28 for 8,000 labels
Avery 5195 - Small Labels
Size: 0.67" x 1.75" (45 per sheet)
Use for: Small products
Cost: ~$25 for 4,500 labels
Dymo 30334 - Label Printer
Size: 2.25" x 1.25" (1 per sheet)
Use for: If you have a Dymo label printer
Cost: Depends on your printer
Step 4: Print
Click print. Your browser's print dialog opens. Make sure:
Scale: 100% (not "fit to page")
Margins: Default or None
Paper size: Letter (8.5" x 11")
The CSS is configured with exact measurements for each template.

Common Questions from Etsy Sellers
What if my products don't have SKUs?
The tool generates them automatically using the date format (25NOV-1001, 25NOV-1002, etc.)
Can I use my existing SKUs?
Yes. It only generates SKUs for products that don't have them.
Does it work with Shopify CSVs too?
If the columns are named similarly (SKU, Title, Product, etc.), yes.
What about custom label sizes?
Not supported. You get the 5 included sizes only.
Can I add product names to labels?
You can choose to show/hide product names. They appear below the barcode if enabled.
What barcode type does it use?
CODE128 - works with every barcode scanner.
Do I need special label paper?
No. Any brand that matches Avery sizes works. Generic labels from Amazon are fine.
Is this really a one-time payment?
Yes. No subscription, no recurring charges, no upsells. You download an HTML file and use it forever.
The Bottom Line for Etsy Sellers
This tool does one thing: turns Etsy CSV exports into printable barcode labels.
It doesn't track inventory. It doesn't sync to the cloud. It doesn't have a mobile app.
It just makes barcode labels. Quickly. Without a subscription.
If that's what you need, it's worth $37.
